But... I did take hundreds of photos and since we've been back (we were gone for 6 weeks), I've been painting often and using those photos as reference. Since I had the stack of prepared paper, I thought it would be perfect for painting "studies". It would allow me to experiment without being concerned about the cost of a canvas. Any of them that are particularly exciting, I plan to paint again on a larger canvas.
This blog has been created as a place to show these little paintings. I hope you'll enjoy seeing them as much as I enjoy painting them.
First up is one I figure is required for any series depicting the "Great Out West". A skull. I believe this is a Mule deer skull, but am not positive about that. We were in Keystone, South Dakota when I found this. Mt. Rushmore is in Keystone, for those of you who might not know that.
